beach week was GREAT! the kids enjoyed the ocean, making sand castles, the aquarium, looking for ghost crabs, flying kites, going on beach walks... anything you can imagine, we did it! it was a wonderful week of QUALITY time with the kids and i will always have these pictures to look back on!

we went to nags head, nc last week for a couple of days with my in-laws!

we had horrible weather, except for 1 hour

ivy loves to pat her brother on the head

fun time with daddy, they decided to put aiden's slippers on ivy and she just LOVED it!

ok, the sweetest YET funniest picture yet... this is aiden at preschool doing a mother's day program and the girl to the right of him is only 4 months older... she is like over a foot taller then him... of course, aiden came home from school the other day telling me that he was sad because he was the shortest kid in the class... my heart broke, i responded with... BUT YOUR THE FASTEST !! i just love that kid!

i know, it's about time...

life has been going great! we have been enjoying the beautiful weather for the last couple of days... ivy now uses a sippy cup and has boycotted baby food all together... she loves to eat what we eat!! we sat up an old computer for aiden to use (he only plays learning games)... he loves it! they are growing up so fast... enjoy some photos...

this is ivy's signature look... she scrunches up her nose and blows out of it... aiden taught her this and they do it back and forth all the time... you can't help but laugh!!

ok, so i was taking pictures yesterday of the kids and ivy stopped what she was doing, went to the playroom and started looking for something, aiden's camera... she found it and started copying me ... they understand WAY more then we think they do!!

aiden had purple day at school this week... that's when your suppose to wear purple to school... well, being a boy, he doesn't have any purple clothes so we had to put purple stickers all over his shirt! it was a hit at school...

last week i had my sister-in-law anna and her girls, saida and hilina, staying with me! this was the first time meeting the girls since they were brought from ethiopia to america in january by the BEST parents in the world!! we had a WONDERFUL week and i miss them so much!! ben joined us on thursday night and let's just say, i want them all to move next door!

here is ivy, saida and hilina having lots of fun together... ivy LOVED to crawl over them!!

aiden was a GREAT help and he just loved his cousins! he read books to them and even fed them their bottles...

my mom, russ, lily and lucy were also visiting! here is lily and aiden riding their bikes together !

ivy is learning to walk and talk! here she is going into aiden's room and yelling his name. it just cracks me up when i hear her say AIDEN!

aiden went to his friend Molly's birthday party today... he was crowned a 'king' for the day and he came around the corner tonight to tell me that 'this king is tired'... its so cute when he wears the crown ALL day long and then hangs his it on his bed post while he sleeps!

ivy started walking about 2 weeks after her birthday! i finally captured it on video... i think she would walk better if she knew aiden wasn't RIGHT behind her at all times!

this is a typical night after dinner. aiden chasing ivy around the house! they both just love this time together. and yes, aiden is that rough with her all the time, and she loves it!

this weekend aiden went to his friend lucy's birthday party. for those of you who don't know SUPER WHY it's a PBS show that the kids really love these days! he came home looking like a superhero in his green shirt and mask... which he wore to costco.

after spending a ton of money at costco, this is REALLY all the kids wanted... A BOX

ok, so its cute that aiden wants to be just like his dad and read the back of the cereal box... however, i would like to point out that i haven't even eaten breakfast yet...enjoy my messy kitchen table!

from time to time we sometimes will have a 'guest blogger' just waiting to share his thoughts... here is a excerpt from his lastest writing piece titled, 'a day in the life of the lambert household, thru the eyes of a dad'.
here matt (the dad) shares what life has been like for him the past 4 months while he has been 'resting his mind' (unemployed). good news is he now has a job and we can REALLY enjoy this writing piece...

"... 5:15AM: Aiden sneaks into your room (sometimes with a flashlight, sometimes in the pitch dark), gets as close as he can to your face and shouts: “CAN I WATCH A MOVIE?”
5:45: Once Aiden is settled in front of the tv with juice, a pop tart and the Higgly Town Hero’s, you can try to go back to sleep. He might come for a second visit if he runs out of juice, poptart, or if he has already seen/doesn’t like that episode
7:00: Ivy wakes up. Slowly at first, she gives you a chance to get her but if you aren’t quick, she will be freaking out by the time you get to her crib. Once you stop gagging from the smell of her diaper, you need to scrape one inch of poop that lines here entire diaper. She might be giggling; she might be screaming; but either way you have to wrestle her to keep her from dipping her feet into the poop filled diaper. Give her the first bottle (it smells like vomit, so breath thru your mouth. She burps at least once and it smells rancid).
7:15: Hopefully 12 cups of coffee are ready, but either way you have to negotiate with Aiden to get him to eat his breakfast. During this, you have to alternate baby food and cheerios with Ivy. She is a good eater, but not very patient. Work fast and don’t lose the rhythm.
7:30: With luck you have eaten breakfast, cleaned the kitchen and downed two cups of coffee because it is music time. Harmonica’s, flutophones, drums, and shakers are in the play room. You may have to learn some songs that Aiden made up this morning so be ready. He is not very patient so you need to pay attention.
8:00: Music time is over, but whichever toy Ivy picks, Aiden wants and vice versa. Lots of screaming, crying, and arguing. Hopefully you have finished your third cup of coffee.
8:30: Ivy goes down for her nap (she is too little to put up much of a fight, but she does scream for about 1 minute). Aiden watches sesame street, so you have 57 minutes to go to the bathroom, and take a shower.
9:15: Ivy is up. Another diaper awaits. Aiden needs to be dressed too, so you need to use all of your creative juices to convince him (i.e. pick a superhero he likes and pretend like Aiden is putting on his super hero outfit. Hint: he likes Frozone from the Incredibles). Put Ivy in the baby bjorn (a carrier you strap on so she rides in the front facing forward) and start vacuuming. Hopefully you remembered your ipod because this might be the last chance to listen to adult music until tonight.
12:00: Lunchtime! Another round of negotiations with Aiden. Remind him that Frozone needs to eat in order to have super powers. Same drill with Ivy, alternate crackers with baby food. Don’t forget the second bottle.
1:00: Nap time! Wrestle Aiden in to bed. Same drill with Ivy.
3:00: Kids are up. Play time. See earlier commentary on my children’s sharing ability…
5:00: Start dinner. No matter what he asks for, he won’t want it when he gets it unless it is tacos. Sometimes hot dogs work, sometimes chicken nuggets. Always a fight. You won’t be able to talk about your day during dinner because Aiden wants to talk about something. Maybe his brother Jax (he has no brothers) or his pet dog Mango or Salsa (we have no pets).
6:30: Bath time (they both love baths but Aiden pretends to hate drying off. Brace yourself for a knock down fight).
7:00: Ivy in bed. Story time for Aiden.
7:30: Aiden under covers, lights out
7:35: Aiden needs water
7:40: It is either to dark or too light in Aiden’s room.
7:45: Aiden has something to tell you: he has no short version. Sometimes he plans your entire day for tomorrow.
8:15: You can relax, watch tv, or whatever. But don’t stay up too late because he’ll be up at 5:15…

ok, so i have finally created a new blog for my family... the last one i had was just of aiden... its only taken 1 year to get one up and running with both kiddos!

matt and i have been married for almost 5 years. we have two happy children, aiden who is 3 1/2 and ivy who just turned 1 on january 30th.

keep checking back and 'watch how they grow'

we celebrated ivy's 1st birthday this past weekend with our familes!

aiden bought ivy her first train, a pink one named 'rosie'. this was so she would chew on her train instead of his... but he secretly LOVES that pink train !!
